A Cairnlea woman is on the hunt for aspiring politicians and chief executives.

Her plan is to foster closer relations between Australia and Vietnam, where her mother was born.

Rachel Bui is a co-founder of not-for-profit organisation Australia Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue, set up last year to strengthen ties between the nations’ young leaders.

The inaugural dialogue will be held in Sydney in May, and the call-out has been issued to young (aged between 25 and 35) and ambitious Australians to apply for one of about 20 seats at the table.

Ms Bui said the idea behind the dialogue was to get like-minded people together and to build meaningful relationships.

“The dialogue is the start of their journey, to bring Vietnam and Australia closer together.

“So that in 10 to 15 years’ time, we’ll have very deep links with the south east Asian region,” she said.

Ms Bui said applicants don’t need to have a Vietnamese background, just a desire to enhance the social, economic and cultural prosperity of the two nations.

Applications close on November 30. Details: www.australiavietnam.org/apply.
