A Cairnlea man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen car in Ascot Vale on Thursday morning.
It is alleged a Toyota Landcruiser ran a red light at the intersection of Maribyrnong and Ascot Vale roads, before colliding with a brick fence about 12.40am.
Another vehicle was also damaged which in turn knocked down a traffic pedestrian light.
The car which allegedly ran the red light is believed to have been stolen in an aggravated burglary in Peel Street, Kew on January 20.
Officers cordoned off the area, with the 19-year-old found in an alleyway nearby.
The man was later charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of motor vehicle, driving in a dangerous manner, possessing drug of dependence, possessing a controlled weapon, failure to remain at the scene of a collision and entering intersection against red light.
