Start-ups and small businesses in Brimbank are being encouraged to apply for council’s business grants program.
The council has committed $200,000 through the program to support start-ups and small businesses to adapt to the impacts of COVID-19 and strengthen their businesses.
The program includes small business grants of up to $10,000 for small businesses that are at least 12 months old and operate in Brimbank, to support their adaption to COVID-related challenges and business growth to expand the local economy.
The second part of the program is for start-ups with grants of up to $2000 available. These grants are to help with common start-up costs, including fees, registrations and equipment.
Mayor Ranka Rasic said the council is aware that businesses need all the support they can get at the moment.
“As a small business owner myself, I know first-hand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.
“The Brimbank business grants will support local start-ups and small businesses to adapt to the impacts of COVID-19 and strengthen their businesses.
“I encourage start-ups and small businesses to put in their applications at the earliest.”
