Buses take over as St Albans level crossings go

St Albans train station will have a brand new look in 2017.

Outbound trains on the Sunbury line will not stop at St Albans station for the rest of October after level crossing removal works began on Sunday.

Station buildings on platforms two and three will be demolished and a temporary platform will be built to enable services to resume on October 31.

Platform two will also be demolished and trees removed, while utility services will be relocated.

Shuttle buses will replace trains between St Albans and Keilor Plains.

Because of scheduled track works, city-bound trains will operate as normal, except for services after 9pm on Saturday, October 10, until the first service on Monday, October 12.

Buses will also replace trains from 11pm,

Friday, October 23, until the first service on Monday, October 26, due to works scheduled at the crossing itself.

Once the level crossing is removed, new tracks are laid and platforms rebuilt, trains will run under Main Road at the St Albans station.
