A free bus service that takes Brimbank residents on visits to Keilor cemetery will continue.

Star Weekly revealed late in 2014 that the service, which takes Brimbank City Widows Group members to visit graves of loved ones on the first Tuesday of each month, was in danger of being axed because of dwindling numbers.

However, CDC Victoria corporate communications manager Deborah Goon said the bus company had been able to keep the service operating.

The service was started in 2004 by then Brimbank police officer Senior Constable John Reader, and was taken over by CDC Victoria when Senior Constable Reader was transferred.
