Bus changes to meet demand

Three new bus services are better connecting passengers from Sunshine South to the city.

Routes 216, 220 and 429 have been in place since late November. They replace route 210.

Route 216 runs from Sunshine station to the Melbourne CBD via Dysons Road.

It offers more frequent services on Sundays than the old route 210.

The changes will mean that route 216 services will run every eight to 10 minutes in peak periods.

Route 220 travels between Sunshine station to the CBD via Footscray Road.

It also has more passenger services on Sundays than the previous route.

Both routes will run every 15 to 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 20 to 30 minutes on Sundays.

Meanwhile, the new route 429 will operate between Sunshine South and Sunshine train station with services co-ordinated with trains.

Routes 216, 219 and 220 have been split between the city’s western and southern suburbs since mid-2018 due to works on Southbank Boulevard.

Member for Footscray Katie Hall said the changes will bolster Brimbank’s public transport system.

“These changes will give passengers more options to get around, helping them find it easier to connect with metropolitan and regional trains,” she said.
