Burnside Heights man charged after CBD stabbing

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a Burnside Heights man following a fatal stabbing in Melbourne’s CBD in October.

With assistance from VIPER Taskforce, a warrant was executed at a residential property in Burnside Heights on Wednesday, October 9.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with affray.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on November 15.

The charge follows an incident where emergency services were called to Bourke Street about 5.45am on Sunday, October 30, following reports of a group of people fighting.

Two men sustained stab wounds and were conveyed to hospital in a critical condition, where a 20-year-old Cranbourne man later died.

A second man has since been released from hospital.

Homicide Squad detectives charged a 23-year-old Seabrook man and a 20-year-old Delahey man with murder, affray, intentionally cause serious injury and intentionally cause injury on Friday.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, has video footage or further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
