Roll up, Roll up! The circus has come to town.

Internationally acclaimed circus performer Linda Burger has started her own circus school at the Sunshine Badminton Centre, and she is ready for her first students.

Ms Burger, a seventh generation circus performer who has performed all over the world, said opening her own school was something she’s wanted to do for a long time.

“This has been a dream of mine for many years, I was just waiting to find the right space,” Ms Burger said. “It will be open to kids and adults, and I’m also hoping to get schools involved to come and have a go.

“It’s such a fun activity, and it’s great for fitness as well as developing teamwork and also working with people from all nationalities. In the circus we were all one family.”

The school will feature a number of different disciplines, including juggling, trapeze, acrobatics, balancing, hula hoops and unicycles.

“I just wanted to give children in the area the chance to maybe realise a dream,” Ms Burger said. “At first everyone will try all the different disciplines, and then people will probably specialise when they see where their talents or body are at.

“We’ll hopefully do some performances at the end of the year so it should be a lot of fun.”
