Brunch with some punch

A world of food vendors will descend on Watergardens Town Centre this weekend as part of the Brunch Lunch and Punch food truck festival.

It’s the second week vendors will occupy the site after last week’s Big Burger Biannual and event manager Paul Wesolek said it was all about giving back to the community.

“We came here in December last year and did a little Brunch Lunch and Punch festival for four days,” he said.

“We were really surprised at the turnout we had. We had an average of 5000 people attend per day on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the locals were repeatedly telling us they were appreciative that we came out here.

“We were really shown the love, so we thought we’d show the love back twice fold and do a double header.”

Mr Wesolek said patrons could expect some differences for the carnival’s second showing.

“The Brunch Lunch and Punch is not burger related at all. It’s world street food and will be comprised of very carefully chosen vendors,” he said.

“We’re not going to have overwhelmingly deep fried food, we’re trying to be different than other food truck festivals.

“We’ve got some interesting players coming on board who we’ve never had before. One example is the Mac Project, who’ll be doing mac and cheese doughnuts with truffle.”

With entertainment for children and a circus next to the festival, Mr Wesolek said the site was a win-win for parents.

The Brunch Lunch and Punch runs from April 26-29.
