Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival is back with ten days of talks, workshops, activities, and books.
The festival will feature a diverse and multicultural array of participants, who will come together to celebrate the books, stories, food, and ideas of people from all walks of life.
The line up for the festival was launched last week and there’s something for everyone with food focused events, LGBTQ writers, people from immigrant, refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds all the way through to the ‘Soul Lounge out West’, a spoken word night with an open mic session.
Among those to be involved in the festival are Aunty Fay Muir, Jacinta Parsons, Parminder Kaur, Tiff Tan, Hamed Allahyari, Dani Valent, Andre Dao, Jaclyn Crupi, Najib Warsame, Yves Rees, Anastasia Le, Tiff Tan, Emily Spurr, Flora Chol and Hamed Allahyari from Café Sunshine.
Brimbank mayor Bruce Lancashire said the festival is crammed full of diverse authors, writers, poets, and artists that the community will want to see.
“Our municipality is the proud home of more diverse and multicultural stories than anywhere else in Victoria,” he said.
“There is no cost to attend any of the Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival events [and] everyone is welcome to come along.
“Don’t miss out, book today – I hope to see you there.”
The free festival is taking place from March 16 – 25 at various locations across the municipality.
