Brimbank has recorded an additional 15 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
The number of active cases within the municipality has jumped to 77.
It comes on a day where the state recorded 191 new cases, the worst since the pandemic began in Australia.
The cases are believed to be linked to an existing family cluster in Sunshine West.
Fresh lockdown restrictions were implemented across a number of Brimbank suburbs last week.
With numbers rising at an alarming rate, Victoria’s chief health officer Brett Sutton urged the community to comply with the rules.
“Victorians in these locked down suburbs are being urged to do their bit in the fight against coronavirus – stick to the rules and get to a testing station,” professor Sutton said.
“More than 300,000 people live across the hot-zone suburbs. We need everyone to do their part and ensure it is stopped in its tracks.”
