Brimbank: Victoria’s drug crime capital

Brimbank is Victoria’s number one hotspot for drug crime, according to the latest crime statistics.

The region is number one in the state for instances of drug dealing and trafficking, with 350 offences recorded to September 30 last year.

It also recorded the most offences under the category of manufacture of drugs, with 135 offences recorded, according to annual Crime Statistics Agency figures recently released.

Instances of both crimes doubled over the past four years, from 153 and 69 respectively.

Brimbank was also second in the state for drug use and possession (1066 offences recorded) –  a crime which has more than doubled over the past four years.

Weapons and explosives offences in Brimbank also more than doubled over the past four years, from 340 to 773, which ranked second in the state behind Hume (860).
