Brimbank guys on health kick

By Tate Papworth

It’s a case of game-on for the Western Bulldogs’ Sons of the West program in Brimbank.

Now in its sixth year, the men’s health program is being held in eight local government areas, including Brimbank, Wyndham, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Ballarat and Melton.

The program promotes healthy living in men who live, work or recreate in Victoria’s western region.

Western Bulldogs community foundation general manager Kashif Bouns said the sessions, over 10 weeks, could be highly beneficial.

“Sons of the West has encouraged some outstanding health outcomes for its participants over the past six years,” he said.

“The foundation highly encourages men in the west to come along to a session – you never know what you might achieve.”

The sessions cover topics relevant to men in the west, such as nutrition, exercise, prostate cancer, diversity and gender equity.

The program will run in Brimbank until Friday, July 5, and is being held on Wednesdays from 6.30pm at St Albans Community Centre.

A program is also starting in Caroline Springs, along with two in Melton.
