Brimbank celebrates International Women’s Day

Brimbank council will deliver an exciting line-up of events for International Women’s Day, celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on March 8 where we are encouraging everyone to embrace equity and raise awareness that our individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can have a significant impact on our larger society.

This year’s events running from March 3-12 include an International Women’s Day breakfast which where guests will hear from a line-up of inspirational speakers discussing how to embrace equity here in Brimbank, in partnership with Watergardens Town Centre.

There’s a women’s wellness retreat, women in STEM toddler story time, afterschool activity zone, celebrating strong women classes and women’s rights presentation by WEstjustice.

Brimbank mayor Bruce Lancashire said International Women’s Day is an opportunity for Brimbank to show exceptional leadership in supporting gender equality and solidarity with women and their achievements.

“Every one of us can actively support and embrace equity – whether it be personally, professionally or in our community.”

“We encourage everyone to check out our program of events in Brimbank and book their place now so thy can join the conversation and be a part of our celebrations.”
