Brimbank breaks through 80 per cent barrier

More than 80 per cent of the Brimbank population 15 and older is now fully vaccinated according to the latest federal government data.

As of Monday afternoon, 80.8 per cent of Brimbank residents 15 and older had received both doses.

That was up 5.3 per cent from the previous Monday, one of the highest percentage increases in the state last week.

There was a small increase in the number of people who got their first dose in Brimbank last week.

As of Monday, 91.1 per cent of Brimbank residents 15 and older had received their first vaccine, up by 0.7 per cent.

Overall in Victoria, 92.3 per cent of the population over the age of 16 has had one dose and 84.6 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, as of Monday afternoon there were 998 active cases in Brimbank. Only Casey and Wyndham currently have more cases.

Overall, there had been 6613 cases in Brimbank since the start of the pandemic.
