The new state-of-the-art Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre will open in two weeks, on Monday, September 12.

At 90 Taylors Rd, in Keilor Downs, the centre cost more than $60 million and includes an Olympic-sized 50-metre 10-lane swimming pool, two massive water slides, a wellness centre, a 24-hour gym and seven meeting rooms with First Nations names.

Other features include a café, multiple wet and dry change rooms, including family change rooms, and a crèche.

Sustainability features include being the first all-electric aquatic centre in Australia, cutting energy use by up to 65 per cent compared with traditional aquatic centres.

The ground-floor activity room will be known as Wiipatja Kuulim or the ‘Mob of people’s place’, while the first-floor quiet room will be known as Brimbank Durra or the ‘Heart of Brimbank’.

Brimbank Mayor Jasmine Nguyen has praised the centre in the past saying it would be a vibrant and welcoming multi-generational health and wellbeing hub with a state-of-the-art aquatic and leisure facility.

The new centre replaces the old St Albans Leisure Centre.
