Braybrook man charged with alleged grooming and sexual assault offences

Westgate Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team have arrested and charged a 20-year-old Braybrook man in relation to a string of more than 50 alleged offences as part of their ongoing investigation into a number of sexual assaults.

Senior Constable Adam West said detectives arrested the man at a Braybrook address at about 8.30am on Monday, July 18.

“A 20-year-old Braybrook man was arrested at an address in Moama Street,” he said.

“He has been interviewed and charged with over 50 offences including sexual assault, grooming for sexual act, encourage child under 16 for sex act, solicit child abuse material, possess child abuse material and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.”

The man remains in police custody ahead of his appearance before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday, July 22.
