Booster rate remains low

Brimbank and Melton have among the slowest take up of the third COVID-19 vaccine dose according to new data.

The data up until February 8, showed that just 36.6 per cent of people 18 and older have received their third vaccine dose in Brimbank.

That figure is even lower in Melton, with only 36.3 per cent of people 18 and older having received their third dose.

Those figures make Brimbank and Melton the fifth and third least tripled vaccinated in the state.

Hume had the lowest percentage with just 33 per cent of people 18 and older triple vaccinated.

As of February 7, 93.6 per cent of Brimbank residents 16 and older had received their first dose and 91.8 per cent had received their second dose.

The figures come as the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended that to be considered up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccination, an individual must have received all three required doses at the correct dose interval.
