Blak voices of Brimbank had its world first premiere on Saturday morning at the Bowery theatre in St Albans
The film features much loved Indigenous voices from the Brimbank area, following them as they share their culture and speak through their Brimbank connections.
Lisa Maza who produced the film was over the moon with the turn out to the premiere, speaking on the importance of amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices during NAIDOC week with the film a part of the ‘Be Bold Blakout’ event that was supported by Brimbank council.
“The whole day is really just about obviously honouring black fellas, the Torres Strait Islander and the Aboriginal community, especially the local community here in Brimbank,
“When you do things locally, we get to see those different voices. You know, instead of this kind of general, Aboriginal people, there’s lots of different Aboriginal people and they all have their own different stories.” Said Ms. Maza.
The film will be available to watch through Creative Brimbank until Sunday, July 24.
