Big ambitions for Deer Park community centre

The revamped $2 million Deer Park community centre could develop an “emerging leaders” workshop and mentor program as part of its key ambitions.

A community consultation plan that engaged nearly 40 people has revealed the hub may also team up with Brimbank Melton Community Legal Centre to provide legal clinics for women.

Family violence services may also be offered.

While activities begin on June 15, the hub, which will consider a mentor or “sister-hub” relationship with similar operations in Broadmeadows or Laverton, will be officially launched in July.

Site owner Comm Unity Plus, formerly known as Community West, received keys to the Ballarat Road facility last Tuesday.
