Star Melbourne AFL forward Ben Brown has joined two junior champions to give the thumbs-up to a Tarneit charity home raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
RCH patients Kiani Jarvis and Arlo Santos met up with the Demon champ to tour the Good Friday Appeal house, set to go to a no-reserve auction on March 29, with all proceeds going to the hospital.
Three-year-old Kiani is undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at The Children’s.
Arlo, also 3, was born with only half his heart working. His problems: hypoplastic right heart syndrome and other complications. He’s had six major surgeries and faces more.
Kiani’s family knows first-hand the great work carried out at the hospital each and every day, says mum Olivia: “Quite simply, the Royal Children’s Hospital is the reason our daughter, Kiani, is alive.
“Having spent close to 100 nights and 200-plus days receiving life-saving treatment for leukaemia over the past year, Kiani has had to adapt to a world full of medical treatments, procedures and appointments.”
Arlo’s mum, Bronte, has been a regular at The Children’s since his birth and says she’s “lost count of how many times he has come close and they have managed to save him.”
“He was in hospital just last week for surgery because he wasn’t so great. It’s improved him ten-fold, he’s the best he’s been for a long while.”
Arlo and Kiani joined appeal ambassador Ben Brown to check out the fully-furnished 7-star Lily 352-D38 by Henley – a 352sqm, 38-square, four-bedroom, double-storey home.
It features two spacious dressing rooms to the master, WIRs to all secondary bedrooms and a suite of luxury inclusions.
The house is situated at Villawood Properties’ premium Alamora community in Tarneit, with its parks, open space, retail and luxury resort Club Alamora’s swimming pool, gymnasium, café, multi-sports courts, parents/child area, function room and more.
Every cent from the auction will go to the Good Friday Appeal, with the auction one of the largest and most important contributors to the appeal.
The house-build is a real labour of love where more than 150 trades and supplier companies open their hearts each year to help the sick kids at The Children’s.
While it’s all about helping them, the auction is also a celebration of the great work at the hospital.
So auction day is a great family day with lots of fun for everyone.
