For one night only, St Albans’ Bowery Theatre will play host to Beers and Babes.
Based on a true story, the popular production follows three friends holidaying in the remote Daintree Rainforest.
Surrounded by dangerous animals and odd tourists, the girls experience a very strange night.
The show’s producer Marianne McLoughlin said there’s plenty of laughs and strange situations.
“The show is based around writer and director Serah Nathan and a trip she took a few years ago with some girlfriends,” she said.
“It follows events around the bonfire, but we’ll leave it up to the audience to decide what’s real and what’s true.”
The theme of refusing to grow up is one that feature prominently.
“It’s three girls, two nearing their 30s, wanting to go on a girls trip to end their 20s,” Ms McLoughlin said.
“The want to get away from Melbourne life and embrace rain forest, but each has their own agenda.
She said there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the production.
“It’s a play that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It pokes fun and is targeted towards people that don’t often come to the theatre.
“There’s a message that the theatre isn’t just for elite, it’s for anyone to come and take away what they will.”
Serah, grew up in Taylors Lakes, said she’s proud to be bringing an accessible, unpretentious play home to an audience she knows and loves.
