Barbershop quintet arrested over Footscray brawl

Five males have been arrested over a wild brawl in a Footscray barbershop last month.

Co-ordinated raids were made on six homes across Melbourne’s northwest on Friday morning following an extensive investigation after the violent Footscray barbershop affray on June 23.

A 17-year-old boy will be charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and assault with weapon.

Two 15-year-old boys will be charged with affray.

A 20-year-old man from Derrimut will be charged with affray and a 19-year-old man from Aberfeldie will be charged with affray and committing offences whilst on bail.

Both of these men have been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on November 8.

All three youths have been bailed to attend a Children’s court at a later date.

Footage of the Aberfeldie arrest will be made available.

Sergeant Cameron Scott said the investigation was led by the Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit, with assistance from the Maribyrnong Recidivist Tasking Team, Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit, Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit and the Altona North Divisional Response Unit in executing the warrants.
