It’s almost business as usual at the Sunshine Salvation Army, with many of their popular activities set to resume.

Salvation Army lieutenant Colin Reynolds said children’s and music programs were among those set to restart, along with church services.

He said the Salvation Army was particularly excited for its Mainly Music program to resume this week.

During the program children and their parents and carers will have an opportunity to learn, develop and have fun through music.

“We’re pretty happy to be in the position to see a lot of things that we had been doing up until COVID-19 returning to some resemblance of normal,” he said.

Mr Reynolds said while things were starting to get back to normal, the Salvation Army was still helping families and residents in need,

He said demand for help increased by 50 per cent last year, with many people seeking help for the first time.

“We’ve put our energy into food relief for the last nine to 12 months,” he said.

“We’re still doing those things as we branch back out into the community.

“Over January we normally have a bit of down time. We’re anticipating an increase in demand when JobKeeper gets drawn back down.”
