Australia Day award nominations open

Nominations are open for Brimbank council’s Australia Day awards.

Each year the awards are presented to local individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to our community.

There are two different categories, the Brimbank Citizen of the year and the Brimbank Young Citizen of the year awards.

The first award is for Brimbank citizens over 26 years of age who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Brimbank community over the past year or over a number of years.

The young citizen award is for people under the age of 26.

The awards will be presented as part of Brimbank Council’s Australia Day event on January 26.

This year’s award winners were Uncle Graham (Boots) and Aunty Joyce Cooper, and Otto Riddell.

Brimbank Mayor Ranka Rasic said there are many deserving people in the community who do wonderful things that often go unnoticed.

“This is an opportunity to publicly recognise the outstanding contribution, hard work and achievements of people who make a positive difference within Brimbank.

“If you know someone worthy of recognition, I encourage you to nominate them today.

“Everyone knows someone who makes a fantastic contribution to the community, so get online and nominate now”.

Nominations close December 3.
