More than 90 pieces of work by well-known Victorian artists will go under the hammer at the Sunshine Print Artspace this Saturday.

Artspace member Christine White said the auction would help spread the word about the venue.

“We’re over a year old, so we’re up and running, but if we get a good result here, it will go a long way to establishing ourselves long-term,” she said.

“With so many high-quality pieces of work, we’re hoping to raise about $50,000.”

The donated works range from paintings and drawings to printmaking and sculpture.

Sunshine Print Artspace founder Phillip Doggett-Williams said a successful auction would allow the facility to expand.

“All money raised will go towards set-up costs, public workshop programs, outreach education opportunities, art events and forums,” he said.

The donated works will be on display leading up to the Saturday, May 5, auction, which will be held at the Sunshine Print Artspace, 29 Western Avenue, Sunshine, from 7pm.

Music, food and drink offerings and a celebration of the arts space will coincide with the auction.
