Arrest made over alleged hit-run death

A 68-year-old Essendon man has been arrested in relation to Wednesday night’s alleged hit-run, which killed 78-year-old St Albans man Arthur Frangis.

Mr Frangis was allegedly struck on Main Road East in St Albans, at the corner of Erica Avenue about 9pm.

He was walking home after volunteering at his local soccer club canteen.

The driver did not stop to assist and a passer-by called emergency services but he died at the scene.

The Essendon man is currently being interviewed by detectives.
