Around 1000 Plumpton homes to get improved Australia Post service

About 1000 homes in Plumpton can now have parcels delivered to their doors after Australia Post expanded its services.

Previously, residents of the Aspire estate and the Orbis Green estate in Plumpton have had to travel at least 15 kilometres to the Melton post office to pick up their parcels.

Under the new arrangements, if residents are not home to accept delivery of parcels they will be dropped off at Caroline Springs post office.

Federal Gorton MP Brendan O’Connor had lobbied for the expanded postal service for estate residents for more than a year.

“When residents move into new housing estates, they expect certain services will be available … parcel delivery is one of them,” Mr O’Connor said.

“Residents had expressed their disappointment in having to travel close to 20 kilometres to pick up their parcels – particularly when Caroline Springs was their nearest post office.

“I’m very pleased Australia Post and its parcels division StarTrack are now delivering packages to the residential estates in Plumpton.

“As Melbourne’s west grows, we must ensure that residents are provided with the services that people in established areas take for granted.

“I will continue to work with the federal and state governments, service providers and developers to ensure that all residents of the Gorton electorate get the services they deserve.”

The expanded service began on September 5.
