Appy days for Brimbank residents

A mobile phone app that helps residents report issues needing council attention has lodged thousands of reports since it was launched in 2012.

The Snap Send Solve app has been used by Brimbank residents to report problems in their community such as dumped rubbish, parking, trees, and pavement problems. More than 5000 reports have been made for council attention, a rate of nearly two a day.

The app allows residents to take a photo of a problem and send it on to the council for action.

Resident Neb Mila said it helped to modernise the problem-solving process.

“[It] really brought Brimbank into modern times,” Mr Mila said.

“The three-step process is really easy to follow and I received notifications from the council as the job order progressed.

“Two times now reported issues were fixed within the span of a few business days.”

A spokesperson for the app said they had seen an increase of 80 per cent in users of the app in Brimbank in the past 12 months. Dumped rubbish  (19.6 per cent) and parking (17.5 per cent) are the most common reports made.
