Sunshine RSL appeals organisers are gearing up to make the 2018 Anzac Appeal one of their most successful.

Sunshine RSL president Gary Collins said he was confident the Brimbank community will once again dig deep and generously support the cause.

“Our RSL volunteers, many of them veterans, are ready to offer a variety of Anzac Appeal badges,” he said.

“The appeal is always strongly supported by the people of Brimbank and we’re once again hoping to raise over $15,000.”

Mr Collins said he was humbled by the community’s support each year, particularly from within schools.

“I think the education that goes on now surrounding Anzac Day and the appeal is really terrific,” Mr Collins said

“It’s fantastic to see children of all different backgrounds learning about the history, buying a badge and supporting the cause.”

All money raised goes towards helping the men and women who have served their country.

RSL Victoria appeals manager Peter Smith said assistance comes in all sorts of forms.

“It can include assistance such as medical bills, emergency home repairs, food vouchers and relief from social isolation,” he said.

The Anzac Appeal begins on Sunday, April 1.

Badges will be available to buy at RSLs and shopping centres.
