The Sunshine Presbyterian Church promises to be merry, bright and enveloped in candlelight this festive season.

The church will hold its annual Carols by Candlelight on Saturday, December 15 – an event which has become a fixture of the Sunshine Christmas calendar.

Carols committee member Minerva Onanjiri said the service will be a family event.

“We’ll be starting at 6 with a barbecue outside, so it’s more like a family event. People can come along and have some food, the kids can have a play and run around,” she said.

“The gardens at the back of the church are beautiful so everyone is invited to join us there for the barbecue.”

At 7.30pm the group will move inside the church for the carols service.

Ms Onanjiri said the song selection will feature some old favourites and a selection locals may enjoy for the first time.

“We usually have a lot of Christmas songs and this year we also have the Sudanese choir,” Ms Onanjiri said.

“They’ll sing in their local languages and English, so the multicultural flavour of the area is reflected.”

The service will take place at Sunshine Presbyterian Church at 120 Anderson Road, Sunshine.
