An Albion primary school is taking steps to ensure its faculty and students remain safe after two medical emergencies in recent years.
St Theresa’s Primary School deputy principal Marie Gamwell said a turning point came when a teacher fainted last year.
“She was feeling woozy and then collapsed. An ambulance was called,” Ms Gamwell said.
Several years ago a grade 1 student also fainted. She’s now in grade 6 and doing well.
At the school assembly last Tuesday the school was given a defibrillator, donated by energy company support service provider, the Wood Group.
“The health and safety of our students is always at the forefront of our minds,” Ms Gamwell said.
The school’s website said: “A defibrillator will enhance and ensure the students’ safety at St Theresa’s … we are extremely fortunate to be getting one.”
