Albion North Primary School will be showcasing the new and remembering the old as part of the school’s 60th birthday celebrations.
School principal Jean Bentley said the celebration on Friday, November 18 would bring the community together.
“And post-lockdown it is great to be able to have people on site to reconnect with the school and celebrate our achievements,” she said.
Ms Bentley, who has taught all her career in schools in St Albans and Sunshine, including five years as Albion North principal, said the day also offered a chance for past pupils and staff to meet.
“I know that there is a lot of discussion on social media from ex-community members who want to reconnect,” she said.
Albion North Primary School, with 208 pupils has been at its present site, 67-73 Furlong Road, Sunshine North, for 60 years.
Ms Bentley encouraged past pupils to bring their memorabilia and imagination on the day.
“For those who went to school here before 2009, please bring your imagination as the school has been completely rebuilt so the classroom that you learned in might no longer be there other than in your mind’s eye,” she said.
Ms Bentley said the school’s improvements included a student-created ceramic installation and garden opened this year.
The birthday celebration which will also include children’s activities, food, a photo booth and commemorative paving stones for sale will be held at the school, from 4-8pm. Details: Albion.north.ps@education.vic.gov.au or 9312 5900.
