A 31-year-old Albanvale man has been charged with a number of sexual assaults which occurred in Elwood in 2012.
Detectives arrested the man on Wednesday and charged him with a range of offences including rape, false imprisonment, kidnapping, common law exposure and assault.
The charges relate to multiple incidents, including the sexual assault of a 47-year-old woman as she walked along a footpath on February 24, 2012 and the sexual assault of a 32-year-old woman as she walked along the Bay Trail on October 20 the same year.
Police are continuing to investigate whether there are links to other similar incidents in the Elwood/Bayside area or the western suburbs.
