Two Albion men and an unidentified offender were taken to hospital following an aggravated burglary on August 10, with police now investigating the incident.
Police said an 84-year-old man heard his dog barking at his Ridley Street property about 8.10pm.
When he went to investigate, he encountered an unknown man armed with a knife.
The offender allegedly demanded the 84-year-old’s car keys and punched the elderly victim in the face when he refused.
At that point, the victim’s 50-year-old son, who lives next door, heard the commotion and ran to the property.
He confronted the offender and was stabbed multiple times during the physical altercation.
The victim held the offender down until police arrived at the scene.
The 84-year-old sustained upper body injuries and was taken to Sunshine Hospital in a stable condition.
The 50-year-old man was treated for injuries to his back and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The offender, believed to be in his 40s, was treated for upper body injuries and was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.
