It was a sweet victory for a Sydenham student last Friday.
Olivia, in year 11 at Catholic Regional College Sydenham, is $500 richer after impressing judges in the school’s sixth annual custard tart bake-off and taking out first place.
The college’s Mike McHugh said the bake-off gave more than 900 trade training centre and external VET students a chance to show off their skills in the kitchen as they prepared for careers in the hospitality industry.
The event attracted 68 entries and was judged by principal Brendan Watson and baker- trainer Peter Haber.
