A hit show will be rocking St Albans this Friday.
Writer and performer Candy Bowers is bringing Australian Booty to the Bowery Theatre in what she described as a magical opportunity.
“St Albans is a special spot,” she said. “It’s the place my parents first came to after being granted political asylum from apartheid South Africa in 1973.
“You have to believe in your back story in order to make your dreams come true. Performing at the Bowery in St Albans seems like a wonderfully magic moment to remember my roots and where I came from.”
Candy’s show is described as a mix of comedy and soulful music and dance.
“There’s lots of laughs, awkward moments, feminism and self-love,” she said. “Growing up brown in Australia is a different experience than what is traditionally portrayed and I wanted to share my experience.
“I wanted to make this as real as I could so I didn’t shy away from things.
“I set myself a challenge to engage the entire audience during each performance and so far I think I’ve done that.”
