Memories of a Sunshine business that provided supplies in World War II will be revived at an event hosted by Sunshine and District Historical Society.

It will bring together past and present employees of ARC Engineering Sunshine, which was founded in May, 1920.

They will gather at the Hunt Club Community Centre in Deer Park on May 22 to remember their part in ARC’s almost-100-year history.

“Come along and share your memories,” organiser Shaun Crosbie offers.

“In World War II, ARC made a considerable contribution to the war effort, making mesh for things like temporary aircraft runways, water tanks and suspension bridges.

In its halcyon days, ARC employed about 2300 people worldwide, with more than 500 at Sunshine.”

Memorabilia and photos are welcome.

Contact Shaun on 9316 5740 or shauncrosbie@hotmail.com by May 17. The event will run from 11am to 2.30pm.
