A gift for grieving parents

Western Health acting clinical midwife consultant Paula Ball and the Emerikus foundation’s Sherri-Leigh Land.

Time is the most precious gift when there’s only one chance to say hello and goodbye.

The loss of a baby at birth is a moment in time when parents and families need all the support they can get, and it’s hoped one very special donation to Sunshine Hospital will help families deal better with the trauma of such loss.

The Emerikus Land Foundation donates cuddle cots to hospitals. The cots are temperature-controlled bassinets that enable parents to stay beside their babies for a while, to cuddle them and express their love and grief.

Sunshine was given a $4500 cot in June.

The foundation was set up in honour of baby girl Emerikus Land, who died at birth in 2013 due to placental abruption. www.emerikuslandfoundation.org.au
