Western Health is celebrating 10 years of looking good and feeling great.
Look Good Feel Better is a national program dedicated to teaching cancer patients how to manage the appearance-related side effects of their treatment.
Staff and volunteers at the Sunshine Hospital were presented with a plaque by the Cancer Patients Foundation to commemorate the 10-year anniversary.
A practical workshop demonstration covering skin care, make-up and headwear followed the presentation.
The program relies on the support of 1,300 trained cosmetic, beauty and hairdressing professionals across Australia who volunteer their time and expertise to help deliver the workshops.
The workshops cover a variety of different areas such as skin care techniques, makeup tips and and advice on headwear including scarf styling and wig selection.
The workshops are available to anyone undergoing treatment for any form of cancer.
Participants also have the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation.
Look Good Feel Better said that during the workshops, friendships and additional support networks are formed that can help during diagnosis and treatment.
More than 130,000 people have participated in the program across the country and about 1,000 workshops run annually at 180 venues.
