A new, one day music and cultural festival in the heart of Sunshine has reminded Brimbank’s youth it’s always okay to ask for help.

The five-hour Culturefest, staged by headspace Sunshine at the VisyCares Hub on Sunday, celebrated the diversity of young people in Brimbank and promoted the message of “being, staying and keeping well”.

There was plenty of craft, food stalls, free Tai Chi, meditation, gardening, games, fitness activities and live music from local artists, including The Movement Records and performers from Sunshine College.

Organiser Andrea Skinner said she hoped attendees now had a clearer idea about mental health.

“We are opening the doors of the VisyCares Hub to all young people in the area, and telling them it’s okay to talk about their problems and ask for help,” she said.

Headspace provides confidential services for people aged between 12 and 25 who are going through a tough time. Details 9927 6222.
