St Albans assault victim dies

A 77-year-old woman who was bashed and left for dead while walking her dogs in St Albans last week has died.

Le Ngoc Le was found in a pool of blood in a Willaton Street driveway just before 8pm last Thursday.

She was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

Amy Tran, 30, of St Albans faced court on Monday, charged with intentionally causing serious injury.

Ms Tran denied the allegations and applied for bail.

However Magistrate Andrew Capell said that given the circumstances, he could not grant  bail.

Ms Tran is due to appear in court again in May.
