Doncaster teen killed: Albion man linked to Sunshine crime spree

The arrest of an Albion man in relation to the stabbing murder of Doncaster schoolgirl Masa Vukotic has followed a series of events in Sunshine that saw a man mugged and a woman hospitalised after being sexually assaulted.

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the violent crime spree, believed to have been carried out by the same offender.

In the first incident, police say a man approached a Sunshine man on the HV McKay pedestrian bridge near Devonshire Road, about 10am, before assaulting him and taking his mobile phone.

The 26-year-old victim was taken to Sunshine Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Following the assault and robbery, it’s believed the same offender tried to carjack a vehicle belonging to a 77-year-old Braeside man on McCracken Street.

The carjacking attempt failed and the offender fled on foot.

Police believe he then attended a business on Harvester Road about 11.20am.

The offender approached a woman and became violent, both physically and sexually assaulting her before fleeing.

The woman was taken to Sunshine Hospital. Police are yet to reveal her condition.

A man has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries. Star Weekly believes it is the same person arrested for the murder of Miss Vukotic.

A police spokeswoman said Victoria Police would not comment.

“We are unable to comment at this stage as investigations into those matters are continuing.”
