The West Gate Freeway inbound traffic lanes between Millers Road and Williamstown Road will be closed on Thursday and over the weekend.
The closures will be:
- From 11pm on Thursday, October 9, to 5am Friday, October 10, three inbound lanes will be closed;
- From 8pm Friday, October 10, to 5am Sunday, October 12, up to three inbound lanes will be progressively closed both nights;
- From 8am Sunday, October 12, to 5am Monday, October 13, one inbound lane will be closed.
All lanes will be open from 5am on Monday, October 13.
VicRoads Metro North West Region spokesman Mathew Kamanis says the lanes will be closed to remove the existing temporary barriers and install new barrier rails on the bridge over the Newport-Albion freight line at the West Gate Freeway.
Two inbound lanes will also be closed on the West Gate Bridge from 9pm Friday, October 10, to 5am Saturday, October 11, between Williamstown Road and Todd Road. Three lanes will be available for traffic over the bridge.
The speed limit will be reduced to 40 km/h and delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.
