Sunshine Lantern Festival: Showing the light to success

The Sunshine Business Association has promised next year’s Sunshine Lantern Festival will be bigger and better after huge crowds took to the streets at this year’s event.

SBA president Bruce White says traders, with support of Brimbank council, will close Hampshire Road to traffic at next year’s festival so that it won’t be confined to the pavements.

About 20,000 people attended the lantern festival this month to enjoy rides, street performers, market stalls, music, food, a lantern parade and fireworks.

“It was so successful that we’ll do it again next year, but bigger and better,” Mr White said.

The SBA donated to the Salvation Army money collected from rides this year.
