Deer Park death: Man arrested by Homicide Squad detectives

UPDATE: Homicide Squad detectives have arrested a man following an appeal for information over the death of Michael Sleiman in Deer Park. 

Police executed a warrant in Deer Park on Wednesday and arrested a 22-year-old man shortly before 10.30am. 

The man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The 20-year-old Mr Sleiman was found dead at a home in Billingham Road, Deer Park, on Sunday, January 26, about 10pm. 

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Mick Hughes earlier said Crime Stoppers had received a number of calls.

“As the investigation develops, the details appear to be not only relevant but valuable to us as we progress this case,” said Detective Inspector Hughes.

“It is believed that on the night of Michael’s death a group of more than 10 men, armed with weapons, forced their way into the property and confronted the seven occupants.

“We know an altercation took place in the home and those that entered were believed to be aged in their late teens to late 20s. 

“The home and a car that was parked in the driveway during the incident were extensively damaged.”

“The information we have had come in appears to be accurate with what we know so it is important to us that those members of the community that have made contact, give us a call again.”
