One hundred in silent vigil for death-row dog Mylo

Close to 100 people held a silent vigil for dog Mylo outside Brimbank council’s Sunshine chambers last night.

Holding placards with messages like “Don’t waste ratepayers $”, “Don’t judge a book by its cover” and “Please save Mylo”, the gallery was packed with supporters pleading for council to release the dog.

Mylo has been on death row for over two years.

Mylo’s owner Jessica Gray and mother Sharon asked the council to step in.

“We are suffering badly,” Jessica said. “We ask council to order a mediation.”

Sharon also asked the council how much it had spent on legal fees, believing it was close to $180,000.

Chairman John Watson read out a prepared statement which reminded the community tougher legislation had been introduced in September, 2011, following the tragic death of Ayen Chol from a pit bull dog attack in a St Albans home.

“Eight months after the introduction of this legislation Mylo was found roaming the streets,” he said.

“Under the law Brimbank City Council cannot return or rehouse Mylo.”
