There’s unlikely to be any major cases of writer’s block at Brookside College next term after a visit from award-winning Queensland author and illustrator Cameron Stelzer.
Dr Stelzer ran workshops for pupils on May 28 and 29, exploring the skills involved in forming ideas and sharing ways to make writing more descriptive.
Grades 4 and 6 pupils were also given tips ahead of their NAPLAN writing tasks. Dr Stelzer’s debut novel, Pie Rats: The Forgotten Map, recently won the children’s fiction prize at the Book Expo of America’s Indie Reader Discovery awards.
