Sunshine, Caroline Springs thefts, deceptions: Police seek witnesses

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following thefts and a number of deceptions committed in Sunshine and Caroline Springs last month.

They say a man and a woman entered a medical centre on Hatchlands Road in Deer Park just before 9am on May 16, and stole a credit card from an unattended handbag.

It was used to buy goods at various shops in Brimbank, including cigarettes, alcohol, mobile phones and clothing.

Police also want to speak to the couple after a police vehicle was rammed in Sunshine on Thursday, May 22.

Police observed a car, which had been reported as stolen, parked in Clarke Street, Sunshine.

As police approached the vehicle they saw a man and a woman sitting in the front seat smoking an ice pipe.

When police knocked on the passenger side window the driver put the car into reverse and accelerated heavily, slamming into the marked police vehicle, causing extensive damage.

The driver then drove forward, causing the police members to take evasive action to avoid injury.

Investigating police believe the couple are responsible for both incidents.

Police have released two images of people they believe can help them with their inquiries and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au
