A candle left burning in a back bedroom of a Cairnlea house when its owner went out on Tuesday is believed to have started a fire that caused about $100,000 damage.
The MFB were called to the Settlers Way property just after 9am and reported flames from the roof.
Fire crews conducted a quick search of the single-storey brick-veneer property to ensure no one was trapped inside and then set about making sure the blaze would not spread to nearby houses.
Despite the fire being brought under control in just 15 minutes, the entire roof area sustained extensive damage.
Solar panels fitted to the roof were also damaged and caution had to be taken when isolating the power supply.
